Sysmex XN-350 LIS integration with PathLab Software
5-part differential cell counter (bidirectional-capable analyzer). Connects over HL7 v2.5 or ASTM over TCP/IP (LAN), with 27 parameters mapped to your test master. Included in Pro and Chain with no per-analyzer fee.
What is live today for the Sysmex XN-350
Result fields captured: Sample barcode, parameter code, value and unit for the CBC and 5-part differential. Analyzer IP flags and scattergrams are not captured yet. Testing status: Simulator-tested; validated on site at go-live (configured in the demo workspace). No analyzer has been field-validated with a customer yet; this one is validated at your lab with known samples before you rely on interfaced results. Full compatibility matrix.
How the Sysmex XN-350 works with PathLab Software
The XN-350 sends the CBC, the 5-part differential and (if licensed) reticulocytes as one record per sample. PathLab Software matches the sample barcode, maps each parameter code to your CBC panel and applies your age- and sex-specific ranges, H/L flags, delta check and critical limits, exactly as for manual entry. The analyzer's own IP messages such as "Blasts?" are not imported today, so the technician still reads them on the IPU before deciding on a smear. Host query (the analyzer fetching ordered tests from the LIS) is available on request and is validated on site; the result path is the one tested in our simulator.
Hardware and cabling
None. The XN-350 has an Ethernet port; it connects to the lab PC running the connector over the lab LAN. Your Sysmex engineer enables host output and sets the connector's IP and port in the IPU settings.
Setup tips
- Enable "Auto Output" in the IPU; keep the XN barcode symbology (Code 128) identical to the PathLab Software tube label
- Map each XN parameter code once on the Analyzers page; codes that already match your test master need no mapping
- Run three known samples at go-live and compare every parameter against the IPU printout before switching off manual entry
What you get once it is connected
- Results land on the correct sample with units, H/L flags from your reference ranges and a delta check against the patient's previous visit.
- Critical values trigger the auto-call to the referring doctor with retries, escalation and an acknowledgement log; staff still inform the clinician if it stays open.
- Every interfaced result records the analyzer and time, and every message is kept on the analyzer log for your NABL evidence.
- The validated report goes to the patient and doctor on WhatsApp the moment the pathologist signs; see a sample report.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Sysmex XN-350 need any extra hardware to connect to PathLab Software?
None. The XN-350 has an Ethernet port; it connects to the lab PC running the connector over the lab LAN. Your Sysmex engineer enables host output and sets the connector's IP and port in the IPU settings.
Is interfacing the Sysmex XN-350 chargeable?
No. It is included in the Pro and Chain plans with no per-machine fee, including on-site validation with known samples during the free setup.
Has the Sysmex XN-350 been tested with PathLab Software?
Testing status: Simulator-tested; validated on site at go-live. No analyzer has been field-validated with a customer yet; the Sysmex XN-350 is validated at your lab with known samples before you rely on interfaced results.
What if the Sysmex XN-350 is already connected to another LIS?
The analyzer's LIS output can only point to one host at a time. During cutover we change the host IP or serial target to the PathLab Software connector; the switch takes a few minutes and is usually done after the day's run.
How long does it take to connect the Sysmex XN-350?
We plan about 60 minutes with your technician or service engineer. That covers the Sysmex XN-350 LIS settings, mapping its parameter codes to your PathLab Software test master and running at least three known samples to confirm results land on the right patient. It is a planning estimate, not a measured average.
Connect your Sysmex XN-350 during the free setup
About 60 minutes with your technician: protocol settings, parameter mapping and at least three known samples compared value by value.
