Horiba ABX Micros 60 LIS integration with PathLab Software

3-part differential cell counter (result-only (unidirectional)). Connects over ASTM over RS-232 serial (Serial (RS-232), 9600 baud), with 18 parameters mapped to your test master. Included in Pro and Chain with no per-analyzer fee.

In short: PathLab Software takes results from the Horiba ABX Micros 60 (3-part differential cell counter) over ASTM over RS-232 serial. Direction: Results to LIS only (analyzer is result-only). Testing status: Pipeline simulator-tested; serial profile set up and validated on site at go-live; it has not been field-validated with a customer yet. Results land on the barcoded sample with flags and delta checks, included in Pro (₹3,999/month) and Chain with no per-analyzer fee.

What is live today for the Horiba ABX Micros 60

Result fields captured: Sample number, parameter code, value and unit for the CBC. Testing status: Pipeline simulator-tested; serial profile set up and validated on site at go-live. No analyzer has been field-validated with a customer yet; this one is validated at your lab with known samples before you rely on interfaced results. Full compatibility matrix.

How the Horiba ABX Micros 60 works with PathLab Software

The Micros 60 is common in collection-centre haematology. Its ASTM output is simple; the connector listens on the serial port, parses each result record and posts it to PathLab Software. Most units have no barcode reader, so the technician types the sample number (for example LS-10234). A number that matches no registered sample goes to the unmatched list rather than to a patient; a typo that matches another sample cannot be caught automatically, which is why the go-live validation includes deliberate checks of the typed-ID routine.

Hardware and cabling

A USB-to-serial adapter between the Micros 60's RS-232 port and the connector PC; some units need a null-modem cable. If the PC is far from the analyzer, a serial-to-LAN converter lets the analyzer sit anywhere on the LAN.

Setup tips

  • Set the analyzer to automatic transmission so every result is sent without pressing a key
  • Check the cable pinout: some units need a null-modem cable
  • Stop the connector PC from sleeping; serial data sent while it sleeps is lost

What you get once it is connected

  • Results land on the correct sample with units, H/L flags from your reference ranges and a delta check against the patient's previous visit.
  • Critical values trigger the auto-call to the referring doctor with retries, escalation and an acknowledgement log; staff still inform the clinician if it stays open.
  • Every interfaced result records the analyzer and time, and every message is kept on the analyzer log for your NABL evidence.
  • The validated report goes to the patient and doctor on WhatsApp the moment the pathologist signs; see a sample report.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Horiba ABX Micros 60 need any extra hardware to connect to PathLab Software?

A USB-to-serial adapter between the Micros 60's RS-232 port and the connector PC; some units need a null-modem cable. If the PC is far from the analyzer, a serial-to-LAN converter lets the analyzer sit anywhere on the LAN.

Is interfacing the Horiba ABX Micros 60 chargeable?

No. It is included in the Pro and Chain plans with no per-machine fee, including on-site validation with known samples during the free setup.

Has the Horiba ABX Micros 60 been tested with PathLab Software?

Testing status: Pipeline simulator-tested; serial profile set up and validated on site at go-live. No analyzer has been field-validated with a customer yet; the Horiba ABX Micros 60 is validated at your lab with known samples before you rely on interfaced results.

What if the Horiba ABX Micros 60 is already connected to another LIS?

The analyzer's LIS output can only point to one host at a time. During cutover we change the host IP or serial target to the PathLab Software connector; the switch takes a few minutes and is usually done after the day's run.

How long does it take to connect the Horiba ABX Micros 60?

We plan about 45 minutes with your technician or service engineer. That covers the Horiba ABX Micros 60 LIS settings, mapping its parameter codes to your PathLab Software test master and running at least three known samples to confirm results land on the right patient. It is a planning estimate, not a measured average.

About 45 minutes with your technician: protocol settings, parameter mapping and at least three known samples compared value by value.
