Patient portal for pathology labs: reports, trends and bookings

A patient portal lets patients find every report your lab has issued them without calling the front desk. PathLab Software gives each lab its own portal address: patients sign in with details only they and the lab know, see their signed reports and how their results changed over time, pay dues by UPI and ask for the next home collection.

In short: PathLab Software includes a patient portal for every lab: patients sign in with their MRN, registered mobile number and year of birth (no OTP), see all their signed reports, result trends against the reference range, dues with a UPI pay link, and request a home collection or lab visit. The same booking is available on the lab's WhatsApp number. Every sign-in and view is logged.

How do patients sign in?

With the MRN printed on every receipt and report, the full registered mobile number and the year of birth, plus a captcha. No OTP is sent and no password needs remembering. Five wrong attempts lock that MRN for an hour, sessions end after 30 minutes of inactivity, and pages are never cached or indexed by search engines.

A QR code or WhatsApp link still opens only a verification page; seeing results there needs the last four digits of the mobile and a captcha.

What do patients see?

  • Every signed report, to open, print or save as PDF
  • Trends for any test done twice or more, plotted against the reference range
  • Payments due, with a UPI pay link to the lab's UPI ID
  • Booking requests for a home collection or lab visit, with status

Booking on the portal or on WhatsApp

Patients choose home collection or a lab visit, a date within 30 days and a time slot, and can name the tests. The request appears on the lab's Home collection page; confirming it schedules the phlebotomist visit and sends the patient a WhatsApp confirmation. The same request can be made by messaging the lab's WhatsApp number, which replies with a short menu: book a home collection, book a visit, get the portal link, or request a call back. Repeat-test reminders, such as HbA1c after 90 days, link straight to booking.

The WhatsApp menu runs on your lab's own WhatsApp Business number once Meta verification is complete; until then it works in sandbox for testing.

Each patient sees only their own records. Every sign-in and report view is logged against the patient, so the lab can answer "who saw this report and when". WhatsApp consent is recorded at registration, a patient can opt out by replying STOP, and the portal tells patients how to ask the lab to correct or delete their data. Data is hosted in India. More on the security page and in WhatsApp lab reports; the portal is included in every plan.

Frequently asked questions

How do patients sign in to the PathLab Software patient portal?

Patients sign in at their lab's portal address with the MRN printed on every receipt and report, their registered mobile number and year of birth, plus a captcha. No OTP or password is needed; five wrong attempts lock the MRN for an hour and every sign-in is logged.

What can patients do in the portal?

See every signed report from the lab and open or save it as PDF, follow result trends over time against the reference range, see payments due with a UPI pay link, and request a home sample collection or a lab visit for a chosen day and time slot. The lab confirms the booking on WhatsApp.

Can a report be opened with just a link?

No. A QR or WhatsApp link opens a verification page that confirms the report is genuine; seeing results needs the last four digits of the patient's mobile and a captcha. The portal itself needs the MRN, full mobile number and year of birth. Pages are never cached or indexed.

Can patients book on WhatsApp instead?

Yes. A patient who messages the lab's WhatsApp number gets a short menu: book a home collection, book a lab visit, get the portal link for reports, or request a call back. Requests appear on the lab's Home collection page to confirm.

Which plans include the patient portal?

The patient portal and UPI pay links are included in every PathLab Software plan from ₹1,999 a month. The two-way WhatsApp booking menu on your own WhatsApp number is part of Pro and Chain.
